   oI was taking allopurinal for 3 years. My gout attacks continued for the whole time, and in fact got more severe. Eventually, I was taking 600mg a day with no effect. I noticed that my gout attacks were not in the same place,IE the toe, but could appear in any part of my legs with preference to the tendon regions.
   Getting no help from my consultant, I decided to take matters in my own hands and explored the Internet for information about pseudo gout.
   The symptoms seem to fit mine, so immediately stopped the allorpurinol and started taking 500 micro grams of colchecine daily. I have not had an attack in two years, except for an occasional twinge when I take breaks from the colchicine.
   I have had conflicting stories of long term colchicine use, but apparently it is the only medication for pseudo gout, although i have not looked lately.
